Stars With Short Hair Cuts

The latest trend in Hollywood is apparently cutting off your hair.  Lots of ladies have stepped out with new haircuts in the last year.  Some of them were known for their changing hair mostly because hair color, but most of these ladies did a drastic change with their hair.

The first is Carey Mulligan.  She cut off her long locks in 2009 in the Johnny Depp film “Public Enemies.”  She then bleached her hair blond for "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps".  I think Mulligan pulls of the short hair and it really fits her face.  However it is being reported that Mulligan doesn’t like the hair and is actually losing it.  She has been quoted as saying, "she would do anything to have long, natural hair again, but she can't grow it.” 

Last spring, Michelle Williams showed off a cropped, bleach new cut for the premiere of “Blue Valentine.”  As the year progressed her hair became even shorter.  As her hair became shorter the more I noticed her lips.  I really don’t think that’s a good thing.  I think they look really plump and a little awkward with the rest of her face.  I am definitely not a fan. 

In August, Emma Watson the star of the “Harry Potter” series debuted a very short new look.  When I first saw the look I was shocked!  But the more I looked at it the more I realized she could really pull it off.  Watson has gorgeous bone structure and the short hair works.  Watson said that she chopped off her locks because she “missed all that experimentation that most teenagers go through.”  That she wanted to do this since she was about 16, but couldn’t because of the “Harry Potter” films so now that the films are finished she had the chance to do it.  Since chopping off her hair, Watson has stated that she is trying to grow it back some because she is being type cast.  So in order for her to get more roles she is trying to grow out her hair.  I definitely think that Watson looked great in short hair, but I know that I could NEVER pull it off. 

In October, Scarlett Johansson showed off her new hair at the ‘Mango Fashion Awards’ in Barcelona, Spain.  I personally did not like her choice to chop off her long locks.  But I thought I would get use to it.  Then she showed up at the Golden Globe awards.  Oh man, her hair was a mess.  I was hoping she would look smoking hot since it was the first big event after her and Ryan Reynolds had filed for divorce.  Unfortunately, she was disaster.  Her hair looked like the Bride of Frankenstein.  I’m hoping she decides to grow her hair back out because I think it is much more flattering long than it short.  She definitely has some crazy hair!

Jennifer Aniston was the next star to chop off her hair.  Aniston did not go the pixie route.  She instead went for a bob that reminded me of her last few seasons of “Friends.”  I really love Aniston long hair, short hair, or probably bald I would still love her.  I don’t think her hair is that different even though it is a good bit shorter.  I think she definitely pulled off the short hair.

A few weeks ago Kate Winslet rocked a drastic new look.  She chopped off all her hair and dyed it platinum blond.  She said that she cut off her hair because of the split with her Sam Mendes.  I have chopped off my hair in the past because of a bad break up.  I loved the new look and it made me feel like I was making a huge change.  I think if it makes Kate feel more confident (which I think it will) she will get over the split.  Kate looks gorgeous!  But I still think I like her hair long.

After Kate Winslet showed off her new hair, Katherine Heigl debuted a new chopped off look.  Heigl has been known for changing her hair color from blond to brown back to blond.  But this time she inches came off and she went blonder.  I think Heigl’s look makes her look older.  Maybe she decided to cut it off since her daughter is getting older?  I’m not sure.  I have a feeling she may regret it like so many of the other stars have done.

I have always been about cutting my hair when something dramatic happens.  I have cut my hair off after a bad break up or when I have had health scares.  Have you ever cut your hair after a stressful event?
